2010 Awards
Illinois State Geological Survey
Individuals and two companies were honored on February 25, 2011, at the Illinois State Geological Survey's (ISGS) annual awards program. The awards were presented by ISGS Director Donald McKay in recognition of the outstanding contributions of these individuals and companies for the benefit of the people of Illinois. The awards and recipients are listed here:
Outstanding Advocate
Cassandra McKinney, McHenry County Water Resources
Manager was recognized for her support of the ISGS mapping programs.

Outstanding External Cooperators
Donald Hastie and Robert Hastie were
honored in appreciation of their support of ISGS field trips, commitment
to the education of students and geologists, and for providing access to
their quarry for observation, study, and collection of fluorite samples.

Outstanding Alumni Contributions
W. John Nelson was recognized for his contributions to
Survey programs ince his retirement, including geologic mapping and
research on col-bearing strata of the Illinois Basin and his continued
mentoring of young geologists.

Distinguished Achievement Award
The Distinguished Achievement Award was presented to Donald A.
Keefer in recognition of his outstanding vision and efforts in
establishing the ISGS Visualization Lab.

Jonathan H. Goodwin was honored in recognition of his
more than 30 years of leadership in administration, scientific research,
publications, professional service, and outreach efforts.

The Special Achievement by a Team award was presented to those who
contributed to the multi-year efforts of writing, editing, production,
and review of the Geology of Illinois volume.
