His research interests include applied geophysics and well-logging, coal exploration and reserve estimates, geophysical methods for coal quality, and resistivity methods for groundwater investigation. He has been conducting extensive field work for both Phase II and Phase III for the DOE-funded Midwest Geological Sequestration Consortium (http://www.sequestration.org). In that capacity, he is performing field experiements to support the monitoring, mitigation, and verification (MMV) program, including geophysics, hydrology, geochemistry, and analytical chemistry disciplines. He maintains the database of all MMV field data and assists in the chemical and physical analysis of samples collected in the field or generated in the laboratory. Abbas has been with the ISGS since 2003.
