Major Responsibilities
- Prepare computer-generated maps and figures used for coal availability
reports
- Misc. data compilation and processing,
- Key team member in development of the MIDCARB database
- Assist in maintenance of stratigraphic database
- Participate in data collection and maintenance for OMM and NCRDS database
- Help in development of maps showing geology and structure from current
section data collection for OMM project

Current Projects
- Assist other team members in OMM projects including processing of
stratigraphic database, plans to upgrade databes to ORACLE, development
of 100K and 500K coal structure maps for Herrin and Springfield Coals
as part of OMM project 2002 to 2004.
- Major participant and co-developer of the database and standards -
Midcontinent Interactive Digital Carbon Atlas and Relational
DataBase (MIDCARB) -
a joint project between the Geological Survey's of Illinois, Indiana,
Kansas, Kentucky, and Ohio, with funding from the Department of Energy
National Energy Technology Laboratory.
- Purpose to enable the evaluation of carbon sequestration potential
in these states. When completed, the digital spatial database will allow
users to estimate the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted by source
supplies (such as power plants, refineries and other fossil fuel consuming
industries) in relation to geologic reservoirs that can provide safe
and secure sequestration over geologic periods of time.

Research Interests
- Coal Resources
- Stratigraphy and geology
- Mine geology
- Database development and programing
- Environmental geology
- GIS computer applications
- Public education and outreach
