Classroom Set of Thirty-five Illinois Rocks and Minerals (EDX Rockset)

Specimens of typical rocks and minerals found in Illinois. Numbered cards identify each specimen and briefly explain its significance. The set is intended as a reference for science classrooms. Specimens are not large enough for laboratory experimentation. Kits includes a copy of ISGS Geoscience Education Series 16, Guide to Rocks and Minerals of Illinois. The set is available only to Illinois schools and educational groups upon request on letterhead and is restricted to one per school or educational group, or two kits for schools or groups with more than 500 students. Lost or damaged specimens will be replaced upon request.

Coal Ball Slice (EDX Coal ball)

Includes a rock slab sawed from a coal ball and a copy of Education Series 11, Fossil Peat from the Illinois Basin: A Guide to the Study of Coal Balls of Pennsylvanian Age. The order contains instructions for the preparation of plastic peels for study of plant fossils contained in the coal ball slice. These materials are supplied to Illinois schools and educational groups upon request on letterhead. Limit is one per school or educational group, or two kits for schools or groups with more than 500 students.
