(1) vector spatial data layers in ArcView shape file format for surficial geologic units and contacts, indications of morainal units and units overlain by loess deposits and data points for test borings (shallow and deep) and engineering borings;
(2) JPEG images of the final published map, and
(3) metadata in several FGDC compliant formats for all spatial layers.
The vector data include name for geologic unit and a line-type indicator.
Vector data are in the geographic coordinate system, decimal degrees, NAD83.

The data were published in 1999 on an ISGS Illinois Geologic Quadrangle entitled Surficial Geology Map, Villa Grove Quadrangle, Douglas County, Illinois by Ardith K. Hansel, Richard C. Berg and Curtis C. Abert. The data in this compilation do not include all the information on the published map. Refer to the published map for a complete explanation of the Quaternary geology of the Villa Grove Quadrangle.
The nominal scale is 1:24,000.
