(1) vector spatial data layers in ArcView shape file format for surficial geologic units and boundaries, cross-section line locations and data points for outcrops, water wells, engineering borings, ISGS borings, and IDOT borings;
(2) JPEG browse images from the published map;
(3) metadata in several FGDC compliant formats for all spatial layers
The vector data include name of geologic unit, map symbol, numeric code, line-type indicator, data point type, and data point ID.
Vector data are in the geographic coordinate system, decimal degrees, NAD83.
For a detailed list of the files included in the data product, see the Supplemental_Information section.
The data were published in 2002 on an ISGS Illinois Geologic Quadrangle (IGQ) entitled Surficial Geology Map of the Geneva 7.5-minute Quadrangle, Kane County, Illinois by David A. Grimley and B. Brandon Curry. The data in this compilation do not include all the information on the published map. Refer to the published map for a complete explanation of the Quaternary geology of the Geneva Quadrangle.
The nominal scale is 1:24,000.

This data compilation is intended to provide a regional overview of the extent of Quaternary geologic materials in the Geneva Quadrangle. The data are appropriate regional thematic analysis. The data are not appropriate as a geodetic or engineering base, nor do they replace the need for detailed site-specific studies.
