Data were recoded to reflect ownership, use by AMTRAK and active/abandoned status as of January 1991. Sidings and yards are included. The maximum estimated error in horizontal position based on National Map Accuracy Standards is 167 feet. Purpose: These data are appropriate for use in local and regional thematic analysis involving railroads. All railroads contained in USGS 1:100,000 DLG files are included. These data were corrected and updated as of 1991. Data are not appropriate as a geodetic or engineering base.
