Software Available for Trial Use
at the Midwest Resource Center

DOE Software:

DOE software, like much government software is sound, but not user friendly. While you save money, you will spend extra time learning how to set up and use the software. The following software is currently available:

BOAST III - This is a black oil simulator. This simulator is 3-D and can be used to predict how your reservoir will behave given different production schemes. This model does require the availability of much reservoir and fluid information.

Chemical Flood - Software which predicts expected recovery when using a chemical flood.

CO2 Miscible Flood - Predicts the amount of oil recovered when using a CO2 miscible flood.

CO2 Prophet - Both a waterflood and a CO2 flood predictive model.

Infill Drilling Predictive Model - Determines the economics of infill drilling.

In-Situ Combustion - Another of the DOE predictive models.

PC-GEL - a 3-D 3-phase permeability modification simulator. Determines what to expect when using permeability modifying gels.

Polymer/Waterflood Predictive Model - Predicts behavior of reservoir to polymer enhanced waterflood. The windows version contains an economic cost and tax function.

Steamflood Predictive Model - Another of the DOE predictive models.

Private Vender Software:

The following software packages are available for trial or demonstration at the Midwest PTTC Office at 615 E. Peabody Dr., Champaign, IL 61820. The vendors will allow operators to use their own data on a project in order to determine if they are interested in the software. Software available are:

GeoGraphix - The core program is an oil field mapping and information management system. There are modules available for engineering, seismic, nodal analysis, log interpretation, and lease management. This is a PC based system.

LESA/RIS Info - This is a log analysis and well data display system.

Neuralog - This software allows operators to scan and digitize well logs for modern computer management.

Rockware - Software has a wide variety of modules which covers most geologic mapping and exploration options.

Engineering Toolkit - Contains spreadsheets covering most engineering applications.

Fracpro - Software to design and analyze well fracs.

Theta Enterprises - Company offers the programs XDIAG, RODSTAR, and CBALANCE. These programs allow operators to design and analyze oil well pumping systems to maximize production and minimize damage.

WellTest - A pressure transient test program allows operators to determine the amount of well damage and the volume of their reservoir.

3dPAK - A 2-D and 3-D seismic interpretation and mapping software package. Allows quick interpretations, seismic attribute mapping, velocity corrections, etc.

Start Evaluation System - a menu driven system that makes using the DOE software much easier. Contains much of the DOE secondary recovery analysis software as part of its system.

ArcView - a GIS spatial information management system. Currently, in use by most of the Illinois State Geological Survey.

Landmark - a UNIX system which allows mapping and analysis of most geologic and engineering data in oil fields.
