View looking west along the south shoreline of Eclipse Sound

Location: Pond Inlet, Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada
View looking west along the south shoreline of Eclipse sound

The view looking west along the south shoreline of Eclipse Sound at the town of Pond Inlet. Eclipse Sound is on the right, and the flat-topped bluffs on the left represent an ancient, raised marine delta, presumably built by meltwater into the sea during the waning stages of the Early Wisconsinan Eclipse Glaciation. Shells from this delta date at greater than 43,000 years B.P. (Hodgson and Hazelton, 1974).
